Not elegible for an upgrade…

So, if you purchased a 3G iPhone recently, you are not eligible for an upgrade. That means if you want the 3GS, you get to pay the unsubsidized price of $399 (or $499) instead of the new user/upgrade eligible price of $199 or $299.

[Disclaimer: I am by no means a fan of AT&T]
EVERYONE STOP BITCHING! If you are in a contract, and not eligible for a upgrade, of course you are going to pay full price for the shiny new toy that you think you must have. AT&T cuts the price to American customer down to $199, not Apple. Apple sells the hardware with a MSRP of $399 and AT&T drops it so you will sign a new contract that guarantees them a customer for the next 2 years (at over $60 per month). Its a business people, and they are out to make money. Phone companies make no money on hardware, only on contracts.

Next person who whines to me about paying to much for a new iPhone because AT&T says they weren’t eligible for an upgrade gets bitch slapped.

[I am not the only one that feels this way. Jesus Diaz from Gizmodo has a similar post here, although I brought it up first.]
